At a Glance

While the name may suggest it, there aren’t any road apples here to clog up your tread. Nor did we see any clumps of speed tax collectors on this welcome addition to the profusion of fine biking roads which ramble through the Cariboo’s lake district. Similar in length and character, but slightly more refined than the nearby DH80, this easy ride canters gently and predictably across a high, flat, forested plateau. Pavement is good, there are plenty of S-curves and sightlines around the low and mid-radius turns are largely unaffected by the trees which hug the highway for almost its entire length. While the road begins as a lonely path through the forest, development gradually increases as you ride west toward 100 Mile House. Because of the absence of traffic, you barely notice it until you descend sharply off the plateau, cross some lush farmland and enter the busier, suburban area on the outskirts of town. This DH is one brisk and invigorating trot. And that ain’t no horsepoop.
