For optimists, this DH has everything-- lots of
twists and turns, a smooth surface, and beautiful lake and mountain vistas.
Pessimists, however, might complain that this road just can’t seem to put these pieces together. On the first
half, you cut a swath through the Ruby and Nakusp Ranges of the Columbia
Mountains. Here, the views are in-your-face fabulous but the curves are as
rare as a Hesketh sighting. On the second half, when the road does twist,
the finest scenery is hidden by the trees. And the best S-curves coincide
with the road’s worst pavement or a speed zone. Do you see a glass as
