At a Glance

Like so many roads in this development-mad province, this DH is threatened by the Fraser Valley’s relentless urban sprawl. Bottom line: if you can’t have fun in a 50-kmh (30-mph) zone, forget it. Fortunately, many of the corners on this shoulderless, fairly paved road are tight enough that this just may be possible. Cut and pasted from many different roads, this zig-zag route can be tough to follow. After winding though an Indian reservation along the Chilliwack River, it shoots straight through what little farmland remains in this area. Then, you climb up to the heart and soul of this DH-- the relatively undeveloped and traffic-free Ryder Lake plateau-- before dropping back again into the suburban nightmare. Why do it? Simple. You won’t find these kinds of S-curves anywhere else around here.
